We Respect Your Privacy

Kawana Waters Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc ("KWCCI") respects the privacy of all our customers and business contacts, and is committed to safeguarding the personal data which you provide us. Also, KWCCI is subject to the requirements of the National Privacy Principles which are contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Our Privacy Policy outlines how KWCCI will handle personal data about you. As we collect personal data online through
www.kawanabiz.com.au (our website), this Privacy Policy also outlines our approach to online privacy issues

How is personal data collected?

In order to provide customers with a quality ticketing service, KWCCI offers customers the ability to purchase tickets only through Online sales as they become available through our website.

This determines the way in which KWCCI collects personal data about customers. Collection will occur at the time you make a purchase through our website.

What personal data does KWCCI collect, and why?

If you purchase tickets from KWCCI, we need to collect personal data about you, including your name, address and telephone number, and answers to the two questions. The main reason we need this data is so we can contact you in the case of an event cancellation or to notify change of event details or replacement of lost tickets. We may also need some of this data in order to process your payment (for example, if you pay by credit card online). Unless you tell us otherwise, KWCCI may use personal data about you for marketing and research purposes.   You can let us know about this at any time - all you need to do is contact KWCCI if you no longer wish to receive marketing material (the contact details of our Privacy Officer are below).

Will personal data be given to anyone else?

KWCCI does not sell personal data. However, as explained below, KWCCI may disclose personal data about you in some circumstances. KWCCI may disclose your personal data to third party contractors and service providers who help us operate our business or provide a service to you (for example, our contractors include companies that help us to operate our computer systems, send out our mail/email and clean collected data). Unless you tell us otherwise, KWCCI may disclose your contact details to venues and promoters so that they can provide you with promotional material about upcoming events. If KWCCI Events provides your personal data to venues, promoters or other entities, or engages contractors and service providers to handle personal data, we require these organisations to agree to comply with our Privacy Policy and with strict conditions governing how personal data is to be handled. Otherwise, KWCCI will only disclose personal data if this is required by law or permitted under the Privacy Act.

Note that sometimes KWCCI extracts data from our collected records to produce aggregated data. This aggregated data does not identify individuals. KWCCI uses the aggregated data for research purposes and may share the data with third parties.

Security of personal data

KWCCI protects the personal data it collects in a secure database, in proprietary data format, which can only be read using proprietary tools. Data collected online is stored in a Microsoft SQL database, a protected, secure data centre that is unreachable by the Internet. KWCCI employees are required, as a condition of their employment, to treat personal data held by KWCCI as confidential, and to maintain the confidentiality of that personal data.

Anonymous transactions

Where it is lawful and practicable to do so, customers may transact with KWCCI without providing personal data. If we do not collect personal data about you at the point of sale, we will not be able to contact you in the case of an event cancellation or venue change, for example.

Non-customer data

Sometimes, KWCCI needs to collect personal data about individuals who are not customers. This will usually arise where we collect the name and business contact details of a person who is the contact in a government agency or company with whom we deal. KWCCI policy is to only use personal data collected from non-customers for the main business purpose for which it was collected.

Access and correction

Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to data which KWCCI holds about you. You also have the right to ask us to correct data about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. If you are an online customer, you are able to access or correct the personal data by logging onto our website. If you are not an online customer, you may access the data that KWCCI has collected about you by placing your request in writing and sending it to us using the contact details in clause 9. Please include your phone number and enclose a copy of a form of identification such as a current driver's licence or passport with your request. KWCCI's policy is to consider any requests for access or correction within 21 days of receipt.

Online privacy issues

To the extent that this Privacy Policy applies to online privacy issues, it is to be read as forming part of the terms of use for our website. When you deal with KWCCI, whether online or otherwise, KWCCI takes its privacy obligations seriously. This clause 8 is intended to provide more data about privacy for the users of our website. Generally, KWCCI will handle personal data collected online consistently with the way that it handles personal data collected offline. To summarise, we will use personal data collected online to provide you with our products and services (eg to process your online purchases), to contact you in the case of an event cancellation or a change of venue, and if you agree, for marketing purposes. If KWCCI provides your personal data to venues or promoters , or engages contractors and service providers to handle personal data, we require these organisations to agree to comply with our Privacy Policy and with strict conditions governing how personal data is to be handled. If you have purchased tickets for an event online, your contact details may be provided to the venue where that event is staged or the promoter who has provided the event - both of whom will act in accordance with the national privacy principles. If you have opted in to receive newsletters or special offers from KWCCI you may, in some circumstances, also receive newsletters or special offers from the venue or promoter. You can change your preference to receive KWCCI Special Offers or Newsletters with KWCCI at any time. If you are contacted by a venue or promoter they will also provide you with a facility by which you can opt to no longer receive communications. Other matters specific to KWCCI's handling of personal data online are set out below.

A. Online collection of personal and non-personal data
For each visitor to our website, our server automatically recognises and stores the visitor's domain name, but not their email address. In addition, our website uses cookies. Most web browsers are set by default to accept cookies. However, if you do not wish to receive any cookies you may set your browser to either prompt or refuse cookies. Please note that rejecting cookies will disable your browser from purchasing tickets from our website. We also use cookies for tracking the statistics of our website. This allows us to better understand our users and improve the layout and functionality of our website. This tracking is conducted in such a way to ensure the anonymity of visitors.

B. Provision of online customer data to venues and promoters
With your consent KWCCI may pass your personal data on to venues and promoters of events to which you have purchased tickets, to keep you informed of future events. You will be asked at the time of booking if you would like to receive this data. You may change your preference at any time directly with the organisations (venues and promoters) which have obtained your data. If you do not have their details you may contact our Privacy Officer directly.

C. Provision of online customer data to third parties
If you consent to receiving KWCCI special offers, KWCCI may use your personal data to provide special offers from third parties with KWCCI benefits. In these circumstances, KWCCI may provide your data to a third party for the purpose of better understanding your needs and interests. Where special offers are sent to you, they will be sent by KWCCI and may be co-branded with the third party. You may opt out from receiving KWCCI Events special offers at any time by logging onto the KWCCI web site and up-dating your personal details.

D. Third Party Advertisememts Online
To try and bring you offers that are of interest to you, KWCCI has relationships with other companies that we allow to place advertisements on our web pages. If you visit our website, advertisement server companies may collect data such as your domain type, your IP address and clickstream data. For further data about this, we suggest you refer to the privacy policies of
Double Click (www.doubleclick.net) and Nielsen/NetRatings (www.netratings.com).

E. Secure Online Transactions
If you make a purchase through our website, we process your credit card details securely over the Internet using a Westpac-accredited Internet payment security system. With the combination of KWCCI.com's Verisign SSL encryption at our website and a secure browser at your end, we take all measures to ensure that your credit card and anonymity are protected when you purchase online.

F. Links to other websites
Sometimes our website contains links to third party websites, for your convenience and data. When you access a non-KWCCI website, please understand that KWCCI is not responsible for the privacy practices of that site. We suggest that you review the privacy policies of each site you visit.
